The Business Side of Things

I started to write this with a mixed thought –particularly to write on which side of the business? J
Probably the same was when I started for Dubai with no idea of what lies down the road. A time filled with anticipation, some anxiety, but now realized wonderful discoveries.
Losing on the opportunity cost, plus paying a huge one wasn’t an easy decision for most of us. But this (set of 48) India’s most exclusive & daring collection of people-were always confident and glad enough to be part of something which they always wanted to be. Believe me I never met such a set of enthusiastic and energetic people. All plans in play, amidst this killer schedule which nearly drained every bit of our energy.
Equally I understood that this College is going to be a lot different than my previous ones. Living away from home in a new country. What can you expect as you head off into the wonderful world of higher education?  On a foreign land, in a new world, Wide enough for our ambitions.
The first thing we noticed was the workload much heavier and more intense than what we experienced before. Large volumes of reading and deadlines, seemingly endless nights of studying. Public speaking, presentations and what not. Each day heavy dosages of innovations, motivations, leadership, Goal, strategy. Away from the comforts of our land quickly we got assimilated into our surroundings and adopted new routines to replace the old ones we left behind. Figuring out how to prioritize amongst innumerous list of Clubs, teams, parties, volunteer activities, lectures, movies, celebrations, and late nights and getting swamped before exam periods. We’ll probably be never again surrounded by these many peers on a full-time basis. Thus being part of this college is as much about finding out what we really are as it is about getting this degree. Here we will be, having fun, playing and still challenging ourselves, having a great time and the satisfaction of knowing we never wasted a chance.
I pray for all of us that Life gets pretty much stable after oscillating wildly outside comfort zone for a year and takes the best side of the Business.
Adieu till next
